Description
- Saint Alexandra of Rome is a Christian martyr and the wife of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Though her husband was known for his persecution of Christians, Saint Alexandra became a devout Christian and was known for her kindness and compassion toward Christians.
- According to tradition, Saint Alexandra secretly embraced Christianity and helped Christians who were being persecuted by Diocletian’s government. After Diocletian’s death, she lived a life of piety, but it was during her time as empress that she became known for her charitable deeds.
- Martyrdom: Some accounts suggest that she was martyred for her Christian faith, possibly under the orders of Diocletian himself, though there is some uncertainty about the details of her death. In other versions, it is said that she died peacefully, but her life and role in the early Christian community have been venerated by many.
