Description
Saint Anthia (or Anthi) was the mother of Saint Eleutherius, who suffered martyrdom for his faith in Christ. According to tradition, when Saint Anthia embraced her son’s lifeless body, the persecutors of Christianity seized her and beheaded her as well, leading to her martyrdom. Her memory is honored on the same day as Saint Eleutherius, commemorating her maternal devotion and steadfast faith.
