Description
St. Symeon the New Theologian was born in the year 949 AD in Gaul Paphlagonia parents pious and wealthy, Basil and Theophano. Uncle Basil, who held a high position in the imperial house of Constantinople, soon hired his nephew with him, where, unsurprisingly, received good education. But the saint did not pay attention and showed no interest in learning.
At the time that Simeon met a monk of the renowned monastery Studion, whose name was also Simeon. The monk he was from the beginning his spiritual father.
