Description
Virgin Mary, “Dexiokratousa” (Δεξιοκρατούσα), which translates to “The Right-Handed One” or “She Who Holds the Right Hand.” This is a title and iconographic style used for the Virgin Mary in Eastern Orthodox Christianity.
In this depiction, the Virgin Mary is often shown holding the Christ child in her left arm, while she raises her right hand in a gesture of blessing. This image emphasizes the idea of the Virgin as a mediator between God and humanity, as she is seen as the one who guides and directs the faithful toward Christ.
