Description
St. Michael the Mavroeidis was martyr, who lived and was martyred in the 15th century. It is different from the saint also the martyr Michael Mavroudis from Granitsa Agrafa.
Eminent and wealthy Edirne Thrace, defamed by fanatical Turks in the city court that despised the name of their god. At the moment Michael was acquitted of every category. However, sykofantountes threatened the judge that will denounce him to the Sultan. Out of fear, the judge ordered the imprisonment of Michael, who remained steadfast in the Christian faith, even if the judge tried to make him change his mind with flatteries. Finally, he was beheaded on February 17, in the late 15th century (one source states in the year 1490), and the holy body was burned.
